Get Your Hiking Boots On As Whitworth Skyline Walk is This Sunday 14th May
This coming Sunday will see the 4th Whitworth Skyline event take place. After huge success of the previous years organisers have decided to run the event for a 4th year.
If you’re feeling up to the challenge of a 14 mile hike, head on down to Lobden Golf Club between 8 – 9 am this Sunday 14th May. If previous years are anything to go by, you’ll be one of 300+ who take part in the event each year. If you haven’t joined up yet, you can still do so by filling out a form and returning it to Whitworth Leisure Center, The Riverside, Nibbles or UBS. Tickets are now priced at £5 each.
Event organisers have asked people to leave their dogs at home as they are not allowed on the walk, it is also advisable to bring some waterproofs, a extra layer of clothing (there’s often strong winds on the moors) and a decent pair of walking shoes. They also wanted to highlight that the walk is a real challenge and often takes people anywhere between 5 to 7 hours to complete, bring along a packed lunch and something to keep you well hydrated.
There will be four checkpoints along the way, juice and water will be provided at each of these checkpoints on the day. Checkpoint two is located 5 miles into the walk, a burger van will be located here. If the sound of a 14 mile hike sounds a little too daunting to you, you are more than welcome to do the 5 miles and stop, you will still be given a certificate for taking part and can then enjoy the rest of the day at the Golf Club.
For anyone wishing to do the five mile Eastern Skyline walk only, it will be £1 cheaper than standard ticket prices.
